In celebration of the launch of Cheese’wich, Tillamook sent us an entire grilled cheese making kit including 3 loafs of cheese, bread and a Cuisinart grilled cheese maker. We had a grilled cheese sandwich-making party today and even tried to make real-life Cheese’wiches. It’s not as easy as it seems, and we’re glad we built the app!
Over the weekend we attended the Grilled Cheese Invitational (GCI) where Tillamook was the major sponsor again this year. GCI is the largest and craziest grilled cheese cook-off in the country, founded by Tim Walker, a dedicated grilled cheese lover from Los Angeles.
We spent the day hanging out with our friends from Tillamook, the Grilled Cheese Truck and Heidi Gibson from the American Grilled Cheese Kitchen while snacking on grilled cheese sammies. We also watched quirky chefs of all kinds furiously battle to make the best grilled cheese sandwich while others competed in cheese poetry and rap.
We kicked off National Grilled Cheese Month with our friends from Tillamook and The Grilled Cheese Truck in Beverly Hills for some delicious Tillamook Loaf Love melts. After traveling in search of some of the best grilled cheese chefs in the country, we were invited into their kitchens to capture the secrets behind their mouthwatering recipes. With over 30 recipes, Tillamook Kitchen also includes dozens of video recipes from Chefs Tommy Habetz of Bunk Bar in Portland, Dave Danhi of the Grilled Cheese Truck in Los Angeles, and Heidi Gibson, seven-time winner of the Grilled Cheese Invitational, of the American Grilled Cheese Kitchen in San Francisco.

To kickoff our new relationship with Tillamook Cheese, we took a trip up to Oregon to learn how they make their great tasting cheese. After stopping by Stumptown Coffee in Portland, we headed towards the beautiful coast to visit Tillamook’s cheese factory. Since Tillamook is a farmer-owned company, we got to visit a dairy farm and meet some cows in person. We also had some tasty squeaky cheese and ice cream. Here are some highlights from our trip.
We were in Oregon for our collaboration with the cheese experts over at Tillamook, gold medal-winner for best Medium Cheddar in the world. Besides being producers of all natural, award-winning cheese and dairy products (their Udderly Chocolate ice cream would make any chocolate lover swoon) we’re anticipating an inventive partnership with the creative folks at Tillamook as their digital agency of record. We’re looking forward to shaping their digital strategy, design, and development as we move their brand online.
For their Loaf Love Tour, Tillamook recently sawed VW buses in half to imitate cheese loaves, then drove the buses across the country giving cheese and delicious recipes to the people. We can’t wait to start on the fresh, innovative projects we’ll be creating with them in the future.
