Walt Disney Concert Hall 10th Anniversary Launch

Monday, August 26th, 2013

We could not be more excited about our latest project with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. We’re proud to announce the Walt Disney Concert Hall 10th Anniversary digital experience.

We partnered with the LA Phil to craft a digital destination that highlights the history of Walt Disney Concert Hall as a transformational landmark and as an iconic concert stage for musicians from around the world. The result is a true celebration the LA Phil’s 10th anniversary of performing at Walt Disney Concert Hall. We conceptualized and directed an interactive 360-degree video that lets viewers take center stage as LA Phil Music Director, Gustavo Dudamel, conducts the orchestra through classics by Mendelssohn and Mozart.

It’s an extensive, engaging digital destination that explores Frank Gehry’s vision for Walt Disney Concert Hall. The site includes Frank Gehry’s architectural sketches, photos, and a virtual tour that gives visitors new insight into the concert hall.

The site also has interviews with Gustavo Dudamel, conductor laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen, architect Frank Gehry, and acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota. It’s packed with rich original content, video, and powerful social integration. A social stream highlighting visitor’s favorite memories of Walt Disney Concert Hall is captured with the hashtag #wdch10 on Instagram.

The Concert Master Takes a Bow

Monday, August 26th, 2013

The Los Angeles Philharmonic was looking for ways to engage a new generation of music fans and introduce them to the abundance of performances at Walt Disney Concert Hall. We partnered with the LA Phil to conceptualize and create the Concert Master, an easy-to-use interactive concert selector tool.

Concert Master generates tailor-made recommendations for upcoming concerts based on a series of fun, engaging questions. Are you a Radiohead fan? Great. There’s an upcoming show that you’ll love.

It’s a powerful way to discover new music and upcoming performances. Whether visitor’s tastes are classic, modern, or somewhere in between, Concert Master helps to match potential audience members with the perfect performance. Concert Master is an intriguing, immersive introduction to the world of classical music. As fans of classical music ourselves, we’re excited by the idea that we could help someone experience their first classical concert in this iconic venue.

Fall in Love with the NHM

Monday, April 9th, 2012

To inspire the public’s connection to the Natural History Museum, Hello created Object of Affection, a whimsical and playful campaign that encourages fundraising by connecting visitors with the museum’s specimens and artifacts. The online gallery, which includes an eclectic range of items from a Mastodon foot to a Saber-Toothed cat skull, contains over 270 objects that donors may choose to sponsor.

We wanted to build a browsing experience that would cultivate people’s curiosity to explore and so to highlight the collection, we designed a visually rich experience that focuses on the distinctive nature of the items in a dynamic environment. The site is built with responsive web design, which allows the layout to automatically adapt to a variety of viewing environments, including web browser, tablet, or smartphone. This enhanced platform agnostic experience lets visitors navigate through the site with ease and echoes the fun spirit of the campaign. We also included a sharing feature so that donors who fall in love with an object can share their “love letters” on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and via e-mail.

Object of Affection is part of the NHM Next campaign, a makeover to take the museum into the 21st century and includes the addition of the North Campus, a Nature Lab, and the Becoming L.A. exhibit.

Unearthing a New Site for the La Brea Tar Pits

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

We launched a new website for one of Los Angeles’ greatest attractions: the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits. The Tar Pits boast asphalt seeps that represent the only consistently-active and urban Ice Age Excavation site in the world. The dig site and its fossils tell the story of life in that exact location, 40,000 years ago.

The website redesign parallels the indoor and outdoor experiences of the museum. Explore the Tar Pits and the excavation process outside but take a closer look inside at the research and exhibitions.

Features of the website include updates of new discoveries as they happen; downloadable scavenger hunts and teacher guides; an interactive map of the campus and suggested itineraries; a chronological overview of the La Brea Tar Pits and surrounding area.

Visitors of the website will also be able to view the latest films by Hello Design, including a video sneak peek into the wonder and discovery that awaits at the the Page Museum.

Eames: The Architect and the Painter

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

In conjunction with the release of “Eames: The Architect and the Painter,” a documentary that illustrates the work and lives of Charles and Ray Eames, we created a companion site connecting the Eames’ legacy and Herman Miller’s design heritage.

Eames Documentary

The site features a visual timeline that pulls out the major collaborations between the Eames and Herman Miller and the furniture icons they created together. By sharing content uncovered from the Herman Miller archives, our site invites users to take a closer look inside the work of the Eameses.

Eames Documentary

Historical images, videos and anecdotal quotes are sprinkled throughout the timeline. Users can scroll through the timeline or jump to specific time periods by clicking on the Eames’ signature icons. You’ve probably sat in an Eames chair before and haven’t realized it, like an Eames Molded Plywood chair or Eames Tandem Seating at the airport.

Users have a chance to win the classic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman – seen everywhere from Frasier to Tron – by signing up for the giveaway.

Announcing the launch of made for each other, an integrated campaign we created to introduce simplehuman’s new collection of soap and sensor pump systems that are crafted and designed to work in harmony, like milk and cookies.

The made for each other campaign includes an online experience, videos at retail point of sale, and a Facebook game and contest. The online experience features a soap shuffle interface that allows users to mix and match different pairs of soaps and pumps and buy them together with one click.

We also directed a series of product videos that are displayed across retail, online, and social media to highlight all the benefits and features of the new simplehuman soap lineup. All the soaps are optimized to work hand-in-hand with the high-efficiency pumps and the no-drip valve, ensuring no messy drips or clogs.

The made for each other site has a customized design to run on both mobile and tablet devices, allowing users to swipe through the soap shuffle interface.

The Facebook game gives users a fun way to learn about the products and a chance to win them. Players are timed on how fast they can uncover all the pairs, with the quickest users featured on a leaderboard that shows which simplehuman products they are eligible to win. Prizes are only up for grabs for a week, so give the game a go and test your memory skills here.
