The app is a great tool for the kitchen with a daily new dish, and a constantly updated list of seasonal picks featured on the Martha Stewart website. A touch on the screen will pull up recipes to pick and choose from. Users can see ingredients, email the shopping list, and hear Martha give audio tips on dishes directly from the app.

Congrats to the lucky audience at the show who all took home a Dash!

Flux kicked off its third annual screening series at the Hammer Museum last night, where we went to see OK Go’s elaborate music video “This Too Shall Pass,” as well as the other excellent short films offered.

Rhiannon Evans’s stop motion animated short, “Heart Strings,” charmed us with a very human love story between two rag dolls. In L’Ogre’s “Hold Your Horses – 70 Million,” band members reconstructed famous paintings in a hilariously witty performance. The program ended with OK Go’s music video. We appreciated the meticulous hard work and talent required to shoot the video. Eighty-five takes and 89 setups is no easy feat, not to mention the coordination and timing required for syncing the people, music, and machine together. The video has reached almost 10 million views on YouTube, but it was a different experience to watch it on the big screen.

The application allows readers to physically interact with print content, enhancing reader experience in ways that weren’t possible before. Articles come alive with the touch of a finger, launching videos, 3D animations, and even allowing 360-degree views of photos and products. Readers have quick access to all articles using the dual access navigation and can share articles through social media within seconds. As designers, we’re anticipating what the future of print can become as magazines incorporate digital technology. 2D photos with captions could soon be a thing of the past.
