Now on newsstands, this month’s issue of Communication Arts has an agency feature on Hello. The feature tells the story of Hello’s beginnings, which shaped the way we work today. It also includes full-page spreads of our work with clients like Herman Miller, TaylorMade Golf, simplehuman and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). It’s an honor to be featured in a magazine we’ve been reading for over 15 years and one of the most influential design publications out there.

Today Herman Miller POV was selected as Webpick of the Day. POV celebrates the work of five California architects with an interview on each including Leo Marmol and Ron Radziner (Marmol Radziner), Kim Coleman (Cigolle X Coleman), James Meyer (LeanArch), Jim Jennings (Jennings Architecture), and John Friedman (JFAK Architects). Each architect shares design challenges they faced that helped them create the homes featured in POV. Explore their unique points of view on modern architecture at Herman Miller POV.
Today 70% of our time is spent working in groups. We collaborated with Herman Miller in concepting and directing “Working Together,” for NeoCon this year, a video that illustrates a day in the life in an office and how people work today.
Every year our friends at Dwell hold the largest design event on the west coast, Dwell on Design. We can’t wait to attend this year’s event and we invite you to join us on June 25th where Hello’s CEO/Creative Director, David Lai will be sharing tips and insight in a panel on designing playful spaces for modern homes. Read more on David’s panel in his interview with Dwell.

Earlier this week we were at the UCLA Architecture and Urban Design program’s RUMBLE event, where students, professors and alumni get together in celebration of the research, design work and conversations that took place in their program this year. This year’s focus was to disrupt and overcome obstacles in their field to find a new paradigm in architecture and urban design.
We also got to hang out with architect and chair of UCLA Architecture and Design, Hitoshi Abe.
Neil Denari walked us through his class project.
We liked the giant Ctrl + Z buttons, the savior hot keys.
Hello just launched a new site for our friend Cass Bird, a photographer whose work has been featured in publications like The New York Times Style Magazine, The New Yorker and Rolling Stone. Cass works with brands like Nike, True Religion and Levi’s – to name a few.
We designed the site to display Cass’ work front and center, allowing users to dive immediately into her photography upon visiting the homepage, as well as watch her films. Having built Cass’ original site in Flash, we designed the new site in HTML5 so her work can be seen on both on the web and the iPad.
It’s a pleasure to work with a great talent like Cass. You can see more of her work here.
We’re pleased to announce that 30 days of simple, a video-driven site we created for simplehuman, has won the FWA Site of the Day award. 30 days of simple was a month-long campaign that gave people a chance to discover and win a different simplehuman tool each day. You can visit the site here and watch each video to learn how simplehuman’s products make everyday life easier at home.
