Pumpkin Geeks

Friday, October 29th, 2010

Another one of our Hello traditions is a pumpkin carving party for Halloween. We seem to have a geeky theme this year with Space Invaders, Pacman, Flash and a tribute to Banksy.

Pizza and pumpkins is the best way to greet the Halloween weekend.

Check out Live Unframed, an online experience we just launched featuring Yves Béhar’s new SAYL chair for Herman Miller. We collaborated with Herman Miller and fuseproject to design and develop the site, sharing the story of the creation of SAYL from concept to the finished product. Browse and discover concept sketches, behind-the-scenes video, and a ton of prototype and production photos.

Below are some photos from the unveiling of the SAYL chair at the official launch party.

Herman Miller Store

We’re pleased to launch Herman Miller’s online store, the brand’s first direct-to-consumer e-commerce site. In order to give consumers the best possible shopping experience, we created an e-commerce strategy that allows people to directly interact with the Herman Miller brand while shopping.

Along with the product configuration tools customers can play with, users are given the widest range of product options available. The Shop by Room section allows consumers to visualize how Herman Miller products fit into their individual lifestyles, providing product options for a living room, dining room, or office space. For design inspiration, you can visit the Shop by Designer section for all products by the Eames, Nelson, Noguchi or Béhar. We also collaborated with architectural photographer Juergen Nogai, who was Julius Shulman’s partner, in directing a photo shoot of the furniture in inspiring spaces.

Integrated with the overall Herman Miller web experience, the online store is visually driven, giving window-shopping a whole new meaning.

SAYL chair

We collaborated with Herman Miller and fuseproject to introduce Yves Béhar’s newest product: the SAYL chair.

Inspired by the principles of suspension bridges, the SAYL chair was designed in tribute to “live unframed.” In the coming weeks, we’ll be releasing an online experience that will take you behind the scenes with Yves Béhar and the making of SAYL. Stay tuned for updates.

Powers of Ten

This Sunday, October 10th, 2010, marks the anniversary of Charles and Ray Eames short documentary film, “Powers of Ten.” The 1977 film has been shown millions of times due to its capacity to expand the way we think and view our world. We’ll be visiting the exhibition at the Eames Office this weekend in honor of celebrating the history of the Eames and their contributions.
